Connect With God
Why do I need Jesus?
Jesus loves you! He desires to have a relationship with you, and to give you a life full of joy and purpose. Why do you need Jesus in your life?
1. Because you have a past and that past surely has blemishes.
God’s word says: “There is nobody living right, not even one, nobody knows the score, nobody alert for God. They have all taken wrong turns; they’ve all wandered down blind alleys. No one’s living right; I can’t find a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 – The Message)
You have a past and you can’t go back, but God can. Again, the Bible says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He can walk into those places of sin and failure, and wipe the slate clean. God can give you a new beginning if you will allow Him to do so!
2. Because you need a Friend.
Jesus knows the worst about you, and yet He believes the best. That’s what a best friend does! So why would Jesus know the worst, but believe the best? Because He sees you not as you are, but as you will be when He gets through with you. Wow! What a Friend! John 15:15 says “I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from my Father.” (The Message)
3. Because He holds the future.
Who else are you going to trust? Who else can you trust? In God’s hands you are safe and secure—today, tomorrow and for all eternity. Listen to what God said about you. “For I know the plans I have for you….plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. (Jeremiah 29:11-13 TLB)
4. Because we need a leader we can trust!
Jesus said, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30 – The Message) There has never been another leader that you can give yourself to with such reckless abandonment!
If you would like to have a personal relationship with Jesus today, all you have to do is start by talking with God – you can say something like this:
Lord Jesus, I invite you into my life. I believe You died for me and that Your blood pays for my sins and provides me with the gift of eternal life. By faith, I receive that gift, and I acknowledge You as my Lord and Savior. I want to learn what it means to follow you! Amen.
CONGRATULATIONS! You have taken the first step in having a relationship with Jesus. As His child, God gives you eternal life when you die and a life of great adventure while you live. Now find your place in church and grow up like He planned!
