Today we’re starting a brand new series over the Prodigal Son story in Luke 15. It might be the most scandalous story Jesus ever told because in it He suggests that God actually wants the worst of the worst to come home to Him. But what we’re going to discover in this series is that while Jesus is telling a scandalous story of God’s love, it’s not the first time in the bible we see this story. It’s actually the story of the entire bible. Check it out!

There are a lot of people who want to do something big. We want to be successful, we want to achieve. But what is the main difference between those who want to accomplish something and those who do? It all comes down to goals. At Epic we have a mission of connecting people to God and each other, one person at a time. But we have to do more than have a mission statement. Today we set goals for how to get there.

A Review on Sin…

Posted on May 2nd, by admin in The Church. No Comments

I’m not going to take a long time to discuss sin, but I do think it’s important that we get a correct perspective on it.  First of all, sin is usually fun – come on, you know you’ve wanted to say that for a long time, but were afraid the religious might be listening in.  Sin, is usually fun at first.  It’s fun because we are fulfilling our selfish desires and I like to like “me”.  I actually think a lot of people view God as a this huge “killjoy” in the sky, whose main pledge in life is not let anyone have any fun.  “No drugs, no sex, no drinking…”  That’s the line they believe God is toting, and the whole reason behind it, is because He wants to keep us from having any fun in life.

The problem is, … Read More »

Decoding Epic, the 10 Key’s to our DNA – #6

Posted on April 5th, by Kent Wagner in Epic Church. No Comments

#6: Church is not FOR us, we are the church and we exist for the world!

The other day, I picked up this can of apple juice my wife had sitting on the counter, cracked it open and poured it over some ice. I was ready to sit back and relax, I took one drink of that apple juice and just about jumped out of my seat. It was the worst, sourest tasting thing I have ever drank. I did what every guy does, I kept drinking – I figured that I had opened it, and it was my job to finish it. Finally about half way through my drink, my wonderful wife yelled downstairs and asked me if I had done something with the apple juice concentrate from the can that was sitting on … Read More »

Decoding Epic, the 10 Key’s to our DNA – #5

#5: We stick our neck out for others, not because it makes sense, but because we know LOVE!

At Epic Church we are very aware that there are times when you have to stick your neck out for others and it just doesn’t make “good sense”. It’s not cost effective, it takes too much time, it’s too great of an investment, it’s not fair because you can’t do it for everyone in the same situation. These are all great excuses, but we are not the kind of people who are going to let excuses get in the way of caring for other people. Honestly, when you think about it, what Jesus did for us on the cross doesn’t make sense from His perspective. He doesn’t get anything out of it except a whole lot of pain and … Read More »

Decoding Epic, the 10 Key’s to our DNA – #4

#4: We believe that how you end matters more than how you began!

Each week we have been uncovering bits and pieces of what makes Epic tick, what are core DNA is. I believe this one is so foundational to the way we think, that it’s hard to ever imagine that we will ever think differently. But just in case, let me make sure and clarify that we don’t and never will care about where you come from, how much money you have made, what bad things you have done, or how you’ve messed up. While we can’t remove the consequences of our pasts, we can determine our future and that’s what we are after at Epic! Transformed lives. None of us walk through the doors of a church and magically have it all together, we … Read More »

Decoding Epic, the 10 Key’s to our DNA – #3

Posted on February 21st, by Kent Wagner in Epic Church. No Comments

Well, it’s that time again, drum roll please….

#3: We’ll do whatever it takes, short of sin, to see people know Jesus!  Have you ever lost a child in a store?  I mean, have them be gone from you to the point of panic?  You are looking around, asking people if they’ve seen them? Grabbing strangers arms to interrogate them, asking store clerks and having announcements made?  That is probably one of the scariest things a parent can go through.  In that moment you will do anything to find that child.  That’s how we feel about people who are disconnected from God, we are willing to drop whatever, try whatever, go wherever to try and see them get connected to God through Jesus.  We really believe they are His children and they are lost.  We really believe that if we don’t … Read More »
