Everywhere you look there are people who are clamoring to be leaders. But they all have radically different ideas of what it means to be a leader. But how should church leadership work? Well before we ask how, we really need to ask why we need church leadership at all. Today we start by asking “Why?” about church leadership.

Direction not Correction

Correction:

Have you ever been in near-miss car accident?  Last night, Jenni and I were driving home and this cat ran out in front of us.  I saw it, but Jenni yelled “CAT!” and I jerked on the wheel and slammed on the brakes.  It wasn’t that big of a deal, but it got the adrenaline flowing and I single handedly saved a cats life (what was I thinking 🙂 – sorry cat lovers). Gentle & Quiet Spirit (or for the ladies)

Posted on February 7th, by epic in Uncategorized. No Comments

1 Peter 3:1-6 (for the ladies, from my sermon this week)

With a Quiet and Gentle Spirit:
¬ Confident but not forceful
¬ Demonstrates leadership without being overly controlling
¬ Is driven by a trust in Christ, not a fear of failure
¬ Outspoken but humble
¬ Slow to speak, communicating Scriptural truth and wisdom

Without a Quiet and Gentle Spirit:
¬ Will push and push until she gets her way
¬ A control freak
¬ Driven by fear
¬ Always has to be heard
¬ Brash, quick to speak, and quick to become angry
